We recognize that literacy (reading/writing) is the foundation of success in learning and without reading success, students’ academic pursuits are marginal, and their life options limited, therefore, in addition to core subjects, we are introducing our Reading Discovery Program!
Research confirms that if students don’t receive effective reading interventions early by grade 2, the less likely they are ever to become grade-level readers. Through the practice of foundational literacy skills in our reading intervention program, however, students are able to move towards grade-level proficiency, as students gain the skills they need to become independent and successful readers. Through our Reading recovery/discovery Program, kids learn essential reading skills that inspire them to love books!
Our fun Reading Discovery Program bridges the gap in reading instruction between grades. Your children will find it a wonderful experience and make great progress! In this program, students are offered the opportunity to develop their reading abilities for greater success in their academic pursuits.
Our Reading Discovery Program features:
- Thorough academic evaluation.
- Research-based learning modules tailored to individual students needs, for accelerated learning.
- Differentiated instruction from highly qualified instructors.
- Effective reading materials from a variety of ‘big books’ short literature, and informational texts representing several genres, formats, and perspectives; wonderful, engaging books, and fresh activities that are simply second to none.
- Critical thinking skills to increase reading fluency, with automatically and the newly acquired skills make reading texts less tasking. Students will learn decoding skills to help them recognize sounds, patterns, syllables, suffixes, and prefixes to decode word communication.
- Proven results.
In the Reading Discovery Program students learning is monitored through guided-reading, paired-reading, and class discussions. A listening center brings stories and books to life, with fun, educational interactive activities to boost learning! Students will also receive training on the use of technology to foster learning. There are take-home materials to help parents work with their children to improve and sustain reading achievement.
